If I had to choose whether to put tax on sugary drink or not I would choose to put a tax on sugary drinks. I would choose to put a tax on sugary drinks because yes people like to drink sugary drinks, but you shouldn't drink them all the time because they can cause health issues. "Health experts say the beverages contribute to health issues, such as diabetes, obesity, and tooth decay."
I think putting tax on sugary drinks is a good idea. If you raise the price of sugary drinks then people will most likely not want to buy them anymore because they cost more money, and some people don't want to spend a lot of money on sugary drinks. If less people don't want to buy the sugary drinks then they may not end up with diabetes, becoming obese or having tooth decay. Voters in Berkley and Philadelphia already put a penny-per-ounce soda tax in 2014. In the article they talked about a woman named Clem Howard, that has a mother, a baby sister, and brother-in-law that all have diabetes, and that doesn't stop her mother from drinking at least 2 sodas a day. Clem's brother-in-law lost a toe because of diabetes, but this doesn't stop him from drinking sugary drinks.
