Before Career day, I didn’t really understand how much money you really spend on bills, groceries, clothes, a car, a house, and etc. I can’t really decide on what job I want to do after high school, but I know that I want to be a veterinarian or a physical therapist. However I didn’t know how to save money, and be prepared for unexpected things to happen.
At the reality store, I learned how to save my money, and how to be ready for all the unexpected things that could happen in life. I realized how much money you have to give up on your children if you have them, and that you have to spend a lot of your money on them. There were stations set up in the gym so you could go around to all of them, so you could buy everything you needed to. Some of the stations that were set up costed a lot more than what I expected, so I ended up spending a bunch of money. Also that you should probably buy your house, car, get insurance, groceries, pay the the utilities, and buy clothes before you go buy anything else because they cost the most, and you need them the most, so buy them things first. Groceries will be one of the things that cost you the most especially if you have babies because you need to buy diapers, baby formula, wipes, and baby clothes. If you don’t have babies you still need to buy food for yourself and your kids. I learned a lot more about life using the reality store I think that was a great idea having stations set up to buy things we needed.
At the end of the day we were put in groups based on what categories we chose, and we listened to guest speakers tell us about what you need to do if you want to go into that field of job. We listened to 3 different guest speakers, and they told us that there was a lot you had to go through if you wanted to do that job. For example if you wanted to be a physical therapist then you would have to go through high school obviously, then you would have to go to college for 3 years. If you wanted to do CSI Crime Scene Investigation then you have to go through high school then go to college for 2-4 years. What I learned from this was that you should go to college for what interests you, not what interests your friends. Because if you go to school for something your friends like and you do what they do, then in the future you might not like that job and want to quit. Then you’ll end up working in a factory or something like that for the rest of your life.
